A choice driven by care, not obligation: the Gedeon Richter Wildflower Meadow

13/02/2026

At Gedeon Richter, we are fortunate to have green areas surrounding our facilities; we decided to put them to good use by creating the Gedeon Richter Wildflower Meadow. In doing so, we have created an open, natural space that supports bees and other pollinators.

Why? Because we know that wildflower meadows:

  • absorb up to seven times more CO₂ than traditional lawns,
  • support pollinators, without which medicines would not exist,
  • retain water and help cool the local microclimate.

Establishing a wildflower meadow at a pharmaceutical site is about far more than aesthetics, although we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the final visual results of our work. Above all, it is about taking responsibility for the climate and for biodiversity. According to research, as many as 70% of cultivated plants depend on pollinating insects, whose populations are declining at an alarming rate.

By acting locally, we can make a global impact.
